A Poem for Uncle Martin

On October 26, 1964, a front-page article in the New York Times described the last week of political rallies in the old Madison Square Garden which was soon to be replaced by the new sports arena  atop Pennsylvania Station.  Our 91 year old great uncle Martin Saxe (b. 1874, d. 1967) , a prominent New York tax attorney who was still working in his Wall Street office at 91, was a life-long Republican and was planning to attend the Goldwater rally.  He reminisced with the Times reporter about political rallies in days gone by, his favorite being the ones for Teddy Roosevelt. "When Teddy had a rally at the old Garden on Madison Avenue and 26th Street, he was the star, the featured attraction.  He would stir up the crowd and they loved it.  (see the original article by accessing the New York Times archives, using an advanced search for October 26, 1964, looking for 'Louis Saxe'). 

But Dad was amused by the fact that the Times misidentified Martin as 'Louis' Saxe, both in the article and in the caption of his picture.  Dad's father, Bernard Zweighaft, had a brother Louis, so Dad wrote Uncle Louis the following letter, containing his  'Poem for Uncle Martin.'
